Tuition centre (Malay: Pusat Tuisyen) is a special term for private educational institutions; they are especially abundant and ubiquitous in Malaysia, India, The Middle East and Singapore. In Indonesia, they are known as Bimbingan Belajar or bimbel in short. Many school teachers earn their supplementary income through tuition centres and agencies. Some teachers 'advertise' their tuition classes and coach those who attend their classes on how to tackle examination questions. Their focus is primarily rote learning. Some teachers earn up to RM10,000 or S$8,000 by giving private tuition. Notwithstanding, there is a huge, and still growing trend, among local parents who send their kids to tuition. Given the immense academic competition attributed to foreign scholars and the proliferating private-tuition trend, some parents feel that they have little choice but to engage tuition centres or opt for home tuition.

Tuition is charged at different rates from one type of institution to the next. Net tuition indices mark an increase in the “relative real burden” for payments at various types of institutions for higher education; in the period between 1980 and 1995, for example, this burden increased by approximately 80 percent for students at public universities and by 148 percent for students at private universities. Most students and/or their families who pay for tuition and other education costs don't have enough savings to pay in full while they are in school.[citation needed] Some students must work and/or borrow money to afford an education.

  1. The average cost of college tuition today with room and board is about $25,000 annually at an in-state public university and around $40,000 annually at a private school. This is a stiff tab for most of us. But, a college athletic scholarship or an academic scholarship at a D-III school is one way to chip away at the rising college tuition. Even if it is only a partial scholarship, which most athletic scholarships are, it will help! tutors Brisbane
